The wheel deal
Lansing-based auto accessory shop will outfit your car to fit your personality
LANSING — Adam Stevens, a 2004 Michigan
State University graduate, has worked extremely diligently to get his company —
A2I Wheels, Inc. — off the ground. A2I is an automotive-based aftermarket parts
company with a focus on wheels, tires and exterior accessories.
Currently, A2I offers
new and used wheels, tires, lugnuts, wheel locks, spacers, adapters, mesh and
billet grills, chrome accessories. Stevens, who earned his bachelor’s in
business marketing, said the business recently started offering vehicle lockout
and battery jumpstart services to the Lansing area, with his shop being located
currently at 1904 S.
Cedar St. Holt, MI. He added he plans to add light repairs to the
services A2I offers.
Stevens, who has nearly
a decade of experience in the auto parts sales field as a sales rep and
manager, does business with auto dealerships and individuals who want to cruise
the streets in style.
“Many of our products
are half the price of dealerships and parts stores and are of a higher
quality,” said Stevens, who also lives in Lansing. “For example: our lugnuts
are one piece as opposed to many of the factory-capped options that tend to
wear out within just a couple of years.”
Stevens, who works out
of the shop six days a week, along with running the company’s website and
handling online sales, said that currently, about 75 percent of his business
comes from consumers who live outside the state of Michigan or out of the U.S.
The A2I proprietor, who
before getting into the auto accessory business had aspirations of doing
marketing for golf courses, said he got into the automotive field to provide
high-end, good-looking wheels and tires to customers who want lower prices
given the current economy. He said even though the demand isn’t as high for
auto accessories as it has been in the past, the market still exists.
“We also tend to provide options to customers
of scratched and dented new products, and used products at great prices that
customers all over the world demand,” Stevens said. “Missing a hubcap, center
cap or damaged one wheel or tire? We probably have a solution that is cost
effective.”
To counteract the down
economy, A2I has begun offering deals on used or slightly damaged wheels.
Stevens said A2I’s used merchandise has been a strong seller.
“The one thing we try to
do at A2I is offer products at the best prices. That means we jump on a lot of
items that are at clearance level prices and pass those savings along to the
customer,” Stevens said.
“I really see a great
opportunity to help people out in this economy.”
